Egypt is ready to host COP 27: Sameh Shoukry

CAIRO – 27 October 2022: Egypt is able to host the world leaders, delegates and climate stakeholders under the banner of “Together for Implementation,” said Egyptian Foreign Minister and COP27 President Designate and Sameh Shoukry 

 

The Minister’s announcement was stated after he and the Egyptian team were on-ground in Sharm El Sheikh, for final touches ahead of COP27.

 

With participation of over 30,000 delegates, the COP 27 will convene in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from Sixth-18th November, when the meetings held with the UNFCCC and Presidency Designate officials to review preparations, the COP 27 communication center said in an announcement on Thursday.

Speaking concerning the conference preparations, Shoukry said: “The Egyptian COP27 Presidency is able to host the world climate community in Sharm El Sheikh this November. As COP27 Presidency we’re doing our utmost to create a conducive environment for successful negotiations and impressive, credible and concrete outcomes.”

“We’ll set the scene through which we hope that every one state and non-state actors will come along with a collaborative and constructive mindset to deliver on climate motion.  I’m confident that the international community will rise to the occasion and ensure a successful and impactful COP27. We’ll proceed to induce the international community to take the transformative decisions needed to answer the gravity of the climate emergency we live.”

 

The Egyptian authorities are working across the clock to host, on behalf of the African continent, COP 27. This 12 months’s international gathering goals to ascertain legally binding commitments for developed countries to scale back greenhouse gas emissions. Egypt focuses on urgent and priority issues within the African continent, specifically, and in developing countries normally, similar to adaptation and climate finance.

 

 

 

Besides the Leaders’ summit on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2022 (COP 27) on account of be held in Sharm El Sheikh city on November 6-18, six round-tables can be held for the heads of state for more political engagement, said Ambassador Wael Aboulmagd, Special Representative of the COP27 President, in a media briefing on the update on the road to COP27 and the vision for the COP27 Presidency, on Wednesday.
