Federal Council

Federal Council is the governing body of the Green Party of Canada. There are 21 voting members consisting of 11 Provincial and Territorial Representatives, 1 First Nations Representative, 1 Inuit Representative, 1 Métis Representative, 1 President, 2 Vice Presidents (one representing Anglophones, one representing Francophones), 1 Fund Representative (who can also be an officer of the Fund), 2 Youth Representatives, and the Leader. Each Councillor is elected for 2 years. Roughly half of the positions are elected in odd-numbered years, while the opposite half are elected in even-numbered years.

***Notice of Annulment of Votes in Federal Council Nova Scotia Representative Election***

An error arose within the listed nominators for a candidate within the Federal Council Nova Scotia Representative election, on each the Green Party of Canada website and on the ballot. The GPC accepts full responsibility for the error. It was determined that this error had the potential to unfairly influence the final result of the election. 

Because of this, the votes solid within the Federal Council Nova Scotia representative election have been annulled. Voting for this position will restart on May third, 2022 and can remain open for 30 days. Results will probably be announced on June ninth. 

The elections for all other positions will proceed as planned, as per the 2022 Internal Elections Timeline. 

Members eligible to vote for the position will receive a recent ballot for the Nova Scotia representative election, and an email with further information.
