GANANOQUE — The Green Party of Ontario is proud to announce that Fiona Jager has been nominated as its candidate for Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes ahead of the 2022 provincial election.
Jager is a registered nurse, a registered psychotherapist, a small business owner, a professor of nursing and a mom.
“As a nurse, I’m deeply aware of the necessity for changes to the way in which we approach health care — each within the interest of patients and health-care employees,” said Jager. “That features addressing the social determinants of health, like making housing more accessible and communities more caring and connected.”
“After a difficult two years of the pandemic, it’s crucial that Queen’s Park hears directly from the frontline as we work to shore up the overburdened health system,” Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner said. “Fiona will likely be a robust voice for frontline medical examiners and is committed to creating health care in Ontario more accessible and equitable.”
As a mother of school-age children, Jager is devoted to constructing livable, vibrant, and inexpensive communities that may make Ontario a greater place for generations to come back. This includes protecting greenspaces and waterways, tackling the climate crisis, and creating good, green jobs.
Jager currently lives in Gananoque. She is excited by local food production and enjoys gardening, climbing, and kayaking in the attractive Thousand Islands region.
