TORONTO– David Suzuki endorses Ontario Greens’ Mike Schreiner (Leader and candidate for Guelph), Matt Richter (candidate for Parry Sound–Muskoka), and Dianne Saxe (Deputy Leader and candidate for University-Rosedale):
- “The well-being of the air, water, soil and food are what keeps us alive and well,” Suzuki said. “Deputy Leader of the Ontario Greens, and former Environment Commissioner, Dianne Saxe has demonstrated her commitment to fight for a greater future through her unwavering commitment to handle the climate crisis and protect the environment. That’s why she has my support on this election.”
- “Only the Green Party is founded on principles that understand that we want clean air, water, soil and food to maintain us alive and well. Matt Richter has demonstrated his commitment to fight for a greater future through green values, and that’s why he has my support on this election.”
- “Mike Schreiner has proven as Leader of the Ontario Greens and as MPP for Guelph that he’s committed to fight for a greater future through green values, and that’s why he has my support on this election.”
“Thanks to superstar David Suzuki for endorsing me for University-Rosedale,” Saxe said.
“It’s an honour to receive support from such a well-respected environmental leader,” Richter said.
Suzuki’s endorsement adds to a growing list of endorsements that each Saxe and Richter have received by distinguished local, provincial and national voices. In a historic moment, Richter (together with Schreiner) was notably endorsed by OSSTF earlier this week. He has also been endorsed by local ETFO representatives. Saxe has received endorsements from dozens of distinguished voices across the political spectrum, including former Conservative politician Hugh Segal, former Mayor and NDP candidate Barbara Hall, Liberal Tom Axworthy (former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau), and 3-time Ontario NDP Candidate Julian Heller.
“Thanks David for endorsing two of our star candidates, Matt and Dianne, alongside myself,” Ontario Green Leader Mike Schreiner said. “It’s truly humbling.”
“David Suzuki recognizes that Greens have the leadership to deliver on tackling the climate emergency and constructing a healthier, climate-ready future.”
