UTICA — On Wednesday, Oct. 5, Krystal and Chris Curley, from Utica, became the winners of the twenty fifth annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals $100,000 Miracle Drawing. Proceeds of the fundraiser profit Maternal Child Services on the Mohawk Valley Health System.

“Every yr for the past 20 years, my parents would buy me a ticket for the Miracle Drawing,” said Curley, of her mother, Tricia Bonner. “For the past five years, she’s been buying one for our anniversary, which is Oct. 5 and my husband’s birthday, which is Oct. 6. We’ve been married for five years.”

“I wish to support this raffle every yr,” said Bonner, who purchased the ticket from Chanatry’s Hometown Market. “It’s such a terrific cause.” On the evening of the drawing, the Curleys were so busy that they forgot to observe the drawing on live television. They soon discovered they won through quite a lot of texts and phone calls from family and friends who had been watching it on WKTV.

“We at all times watch the drawing each yr,” said Curley. “We were just so busy this yr.”

Krystal and Chris are planning to spend a few of their winnings on a family trip.

“The very first thing we would like to do is take our parents on vacation,” said Curley. “They deserve it and we’re pleased to pay it forward.”

The Miracle Drawing has raised greater than $5.4 million over the past 25 years for ladies and youngsters at MVHS, all the money raised stays local. Partners of the $100,000 Miracle Drawing are WKTV NEWSChannel 2, AmeriCU Credit Union, GPO Federal Credit Union and PJ Green.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who supported this campaign,” said Debra Wainwright, CMN coordinator for MVHS. “Through the outpouring of generosity in our community, we sold all the 4,300 available tickets. The funds raised from this effort will make a difference within the lives of many families being cared for here at MVHS.”
